THE GIFT OF GIVING
ELLIE'S MITZVAH PROJECT
Hi! My name is Ellie Kaufman and this year I am becoming a Bat Mitzvah. A special part of this is taking part in a Mitzvah project, where I can give back to my community and help make a difference.
A “mitzvah” is the Hebrew word for “good deed.” For my project, I am helping the Bridgeport, CT chapter of Moms Demand Action with its 6th annual Gun Violence Angels Holiday Gift Drive.
Moms Demand Action is an organization that fights to protect people from gun violence and was started after the Sandy Hook Tragedy here in CT. The GV Angels Gift drive was started by an inspiring Easton neighbor, Tara Donnelly. It supports local children and families during the holidays that have been directly impacted by gun violence by providing holiday gifts.
Sadly, students like you and me have to think about gun violence more than we would like. We have lockdown drills at school to help keep us safe in an emergency. But it is less often that we meet or have the chance to support someone who has lost a parent or family member to gun violence and so many of them are our neighbors in Fairfield County.
The GV Angels drive hopes to brighten the holidays for kids that have endured so much. The gifts provide a little joy at a special time of year and let families know that they are not alone. I participated in this gift drive last year and found it very meaningful and am excited to help more this year. I will be helping collect, wrap and deliver gifts to families over the next few weeks.
How can you help?
Please consider helping us to not just make others’ holiday brighter, but yours, too!

Wrap with Us!
or drop off a gift on 12/2/23
-
My family and I will host a breakfast wrapping party at our house on 12/2 between 930am-12pm. All wrapping supplies will be provided. All are welcome! Drop in anytime!

-
If you are participating from afar (or if mail delivery is easier for you), you may ship your gift to: “Ellie Kaufman, 44 Mile Common, Easton, CT 06612” with delivery by 12/1. We will take care of the wrapping and delivery from there!

-
Make sure when sending or delivering your gift to have a note attached with the child’s NAME and the NUMBER (#1-5) that appears next to the child’s name on the sign up genius. That is important to make sure it gets to the right delivery zone on time.
Thank you again for you generosity!
It is a blessing to be able to share in this mitzvah together!
With love & gratitude,
Ellie
